Delhi Police accused of kicking and torturing worshipers for offering prayers on busy streets on the holy Friday. The accused sub-inspector was suspended after this incident came to light.

A large number of worshipers gather to offer prayers at a mosque in Delhi’s Indralok area. But due to excessive gathering, many started praying on the busy road. As a result, some traffic jams are created, common people on the road also face difficulties.
The 36-second video shows some Delhi Police officials reaching the spot and trying to evacuate the worshippers. One of the police officers asked the worshipers to leave the road, at which time the police officer kicked two people from behind while they were praying. He hit another person’s neck with his hand. Protesters protested against the behavior of the police officer and surrounded him. The police officer has been dismissed in this incident on Friday.
Delhi North Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police MK Meena said that action will be taken against the police member in this incident. The matter is also being investigated whether there was any permission to offer prayers on the road in Indralok area, said the police.
According to a police source, a departmental inquiry will be conducted against the accused police officer. Meanwhile, after this incident, the worshipers blocked the road to demand justice from the police. They said that there was no place inside the mosque. That’s why they had to pray on the street.
The National Congress has commented on this incident as shameful. Posting a video of the incident, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgari wrote, ‘This Delhi Police soldier is kicking a man while he is praying, he probably doesn’t understand the basic principles of humanity. How is this hatred filled in the heart of the soldier? Delhi Police is requested to file a case against this officer under appropriate section and dismiss him from service.’
A large number of police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order in order to prevent a fresh flare-up of tension over the incident.
