Gunmen abducted at least 52 people, including children, during a weekend raid on the village of Kasuwar Daji in northwest Nigeria’s Zamfara state, local sources reported on Monday.
Resident Shehu Abullahi, whose 12-year-old daughter was among those taken, stated that the attackers initially seized over 100 individuals before releasing some and retaining 52. A second resident corroborated the figure, while the Nigerian army acknowledged that an unspecified number of villagers had been kidnapped.
