Marc Marquez delivered a commanding performance at the Aragon MotoGP on Sunday, securing his fourth victory of the season. The seven-time champion, who maintains a formidable record at the MotorLand circuit, crossed the finish line more than 1.7 seconds ahead of his closest challenger, Pedro Acosta. Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium in third place.
The race began with Aprilia riders Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin establishing an early 1-2 lead. However, Marquez quickly maneuvered past Martin to claim second position. By the sixth lap, Marquez challenged Bezzecchi for the lead at Turn 15. The two riders brushed wheels during the maneuver, an incident that allowed Acosta to slip through and take second place.
Once in front, Marquez steadily increased his pace. He stretched his advantage to over a second by the 14th lap and extended that gap to 1.4 seconds by lap 16, ultimately cruising to a comfortable win. This result marks the sixth victory for Ducati across the weekend’s sprint and Grand Prix events in Aragon.
In the overall championship standings, Marquez has climbed to second place, trailing Jorge Martin by just 19 points after Martin finished the race in fifth. Marco Bezzecchi now sits in third, 24 points behind the leader. Alex Marquez followed his brother to finish fourth, while Fermin Aldeguer and Fabio Di Giannantonio rounded out the top finishers.
The race saw several notable exits, as Francesco Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli both suffered crashes, while Raul Fernandez was forced to retire to the garage. Additionally, Japanese rider Ai Ogura was absent due to injury, causing him to slip to fifth in the overall standings.
This victory continues a busy period for motorsport, which has recently seen Lando Norris dominate the Mexico Grand Prix and extend his Formula 1 title lead. Meanwhile, officials have confirmed that the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is scheduled to take place this December. The report also notes that aprilia riders Bezzecchi and Martin started well and took a 1-2 but Marquez quickly repassed Martin to move into second.
