China’s President Xi Jinping has made a new proposal to France to complete China-France relations. The proposal was made by China a few days after French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to India.
Emmanuel Macron visited India to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France. Regarding China, Macron said that today’s world is once again at a critical juncture, China and France should jointly pave the way forward for peace, security, prosperity and human development.
Responding to Emmanuel Macron’s message, Xi Jinping said China attaches importance to the development of bilateral relations, and on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, China wants to work with France as a new open opportunity, upholding the basic principles and building on previous achievements.
In this regard, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China has offered to increase its imports to France. We will develop high-quality products and services from France according to the needs of the consumer and investment markets. He said, we hope that France is also interested in increasing trade with China.
French President Emmanuel Macron was the chief guest at the 75th Republic Day ceremony in New Delhi on January 26. Diplomats believe that China has made new proposals with a cautious eye on Macron’s visit to India.
Following Macron’s talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the two countries have stepped up cooperation in the Indian Ocean and the Indo-Pacific region as well as opening up the military defense industry, a major cause of concern for China.
