Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday that Princess Eugenie has given birth to a baby girl. This new arrival marks the third child and first daughter for the Princess and her husband, Jack Brooksbank.
The infant, who weighed 6 pounds and 9 ounces (3 kilograms), was delivered on Monday in Lisbon, Portugal. The couple are already parents to two sons, five-year-old August and three-year-old Ernest.
In an official statement regarding the birth, the palace noted that “Their majesties the King and Queen and other members of the royal family were delighted to be informed of the news.”
Princess Eugenie is the younger daughter of the former Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. She is also the niece of King Charles III, who is the older brother of the former prince, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The family has not yet released the name of their newborn daughter. The announcement of this happy event follows a series of recent royal developments, including reports on the Duchess of York’s skin cancer diagnosis and the King’s ongoing royal duties.
The couple has two sons August, 5, and Ernest, 3.
