Sharjah has officially expanded the payment capabilities of its Tahseel government collection system by integrating the UAE’s national payment card, Jaywan. This update allows residents and businesses to utilize the card for government transactions across both digital platforms and physical service centres, marking a significant step in the emirate’s ongoing digital transformation strategy.
The Central Finance Department of Sharjah confirmed that the integration covers the Tahseel website and its smart application, alongside all designated service centres. By incorporating this UAE-developed payment solution, the department aims to offer a more secure and flexible financial experience while simplifying the overall transaction process for customers.
Data from the department indicates that the adoption of the card is already underway. Following the initial transaction processed on September 20, 2025, more than 558 payments had been successfully completed using Jaywan through the Tahseel network by the conclusion of the first half of 2026.
Huda Al Yasi, Director of the Financial System Department, highlighted that Tahseel serves as a cornerstone of the emirate’s digital financial infrastructure. She noted that the inclusion of Jaywan is intended to bolster collection efficiency and elevate the standard of customer service. According to Al Yasi, the move represents more than just an additional payment method; it is a strategic effort to strengthen the diversity of national financial solutions available to the public.
Looking ahead, the department remains committed to enhancing the capabilities of the Tahseel system. Al Yasi stated that the government will continue to leverage digital innovations to streamline payment procedures, improve operational performance, and proactively address the evolving requirements of its users. The Jaywan card system is designed for broad utility, with functionality intended to span across 183 countries. The report also notes that pay UAE federal fines through Aani and Jaywan.
