A seven-year-old boy was left unattended on Mount Fuji by his 48-year-old father after the child became too exhausted to finish the ascent. Local media reports indicate the father instructed the boy to wait at the sixth station, situated approximately 2,490 metres above sea level, while he proceeded toward the summit accompanied by his older son.
Discovery and Police Intervention
- A mountain hut worker discovered the boy sitting alone on a bench, provided him with shelter, and contacted the police.
- Authorities located the father near the eighth station and mandated that he return immediately to retrieve his son.
- The child was found unharmed by the responding officers.
Japanese police issued a formal reprimand to the father, emphasizing that abandoning a child in such conditions is unacceptable. The father stated that he “deeply regrets” his actions.
