Pollution has reached dangerous levels in Lahore, Pakistan’s second largest city. Several activities have been restricted in three cities, including Lahore. Schools, colleges, offices, shopping malls and parks in these cities have been declared closed. The Punjab provincial government has ordered to stop these activities till next Sunday.
For the past few days, Lahore’s air quality index (AQI) has been around 400, which is considered severe air pollution. Because, generally, an AQI level of 100 or below is considered satisfactory.
In this regard, some residents of Lahore said that often the air in their area becomes toxic. This is happening frequently recently. Which is seriously affecting their health and other daily activities.
Experts say farmers in Pakistan, like India, burn stubble to prepare land for the new planting season. As a result, the level of pollution in the regions is intensified during this time.
Meanwhile, in the neighboring country, the capital of India, Delhi, has announced the closure of educational institutions due to the alarming level of air pollution. The educational institutions will be closed for the next 10 days. AQI was 300 in the Indian capital on November 7.
