The United Arab Emirates has been appointed as a member of the Bureau of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) under the Convention on Biological Diversity. The selection, which covers the 29th and 30th sessions, was confirmed with the unanimous support of countries within the Asia and Pacific region.
This appointment marks the first time the UAE has held a seat on one of the convention’s bureaus. The achievement underscores the nation’s growing influence in international environmental initiatives and reflects global recognition of its commitment to biodiversity protection.
