The United States has imposed sanctions on more than 100 individuals and institutions, including 30 corrupt people from different countries. On the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, this ban has been given to ensure accountability of people involved in corruption around the world.
The US Treasury and State Department announced the ban on Monday (December 11) and Tuesday (December 12). The US State Department said this in a statement.
According to the statement of the State Department, the new sanctions cover individuals and organizations that have increased the country’s strength in the war in Ukraine by supplying goods and services to various Russian industries. Among them, more than one hundred and fifty individuals and organizations have been banned by the US Treasury. Apart from this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country has banned hundreds of individuals and organizations.
The US ban was announced as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the US Congress. At the same time, the White House is pushing to send more military aid to Ukraine to fight Russia.
Several institutions in Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates are also under the ban. Apart from this, a ban has been imposed on Switzerland-based electronic product exporter ‘Thamestone’ and Singapore-based ‘Micro Electronics Technologies’.
A banned network is based in China, Russia, Hong Kong and Pakistan. The network is accused of supplying China-made weapons and technology to Russia. The network includes Chinese citizen Hu Xiaozhan and China-based private defense firm ‘Jarvis Eightk Company’.
The United States has also imposed sanctions on the Chinese companies ‘Beijing Yunze Technology Company’ and ‘Chang Guang Satellite Technology Company’ that capture images from satellites. The country’s finance ministry says both companies have provided high-quality satellite imagery to the Russian mercenary group Bhagnar Group.
In a separate statement, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said, “We will continue to use the weapons we have to ensure accountability for Russia’s crimes in Ukraine and those who are supporting and funding Moscow’s war in Ukraine.”
In a statement on Monday, the US Secretary of State said, ‘under current US law, I am imposing visa restrictions on more than 30 individuals. Among them are present and former government officials of various countries and their family members. As a result, these people will not be able to enter the United States.
It is reported that among the people who have been banned from visas are the former speaker of Afghanistan, two government officials and their family members, including 44 institutions of the country. In addition, a visa ban has been imposed on the former government counsel of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the former director of the intelligence agency.
The US State Department also imposed visa restrictions against the former attorney general of the Dominican Republic, the former prime minister and two former senators of Haiti, the former finance minister of Liberia and the former president of the Marshall Islands.
In addition, the United States administration on Monday imposed a visa ban against 300 people, including 100 members of parliament from Guatemala, a populous country in Central America, for allegedly obstructing the democratic process.
