Commemorating the excellent intellect of the nation with due dignity, Martyred Intellectuals Day (Shaheed Buddhijibi Dibos) was celebrated with humble respect and devoutness at the initiative of Consulate General of Bangladesh, Dubai, UAEi.
With the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mr. Qazi Zakir, a minute of silence was observed in honor of the martyred intellectuals. Commercial Councilor Mr. Ashish Kumar Sarkar presented the honorable President of Bangladesh dictums on this occasion and Labor Councilor Abdus Salam presented dictums of the honorable Prime Minister of People’s Republic Bangladesh message.
The discussion meeting was presided over by Consul General BM Jamal Hossain, second secretary Manik Ranjan Barua presented the discussion meeting in the conference room of the consulate.
The present highlighted the significance of the day and said, on this day in 1971, on the eve of the victory of the Great War of Liberation, the Pakistani invading forces and their allies brutally killed many eminent persons including academicians, doctors, scientists, writers, journalists and artists too.
Remembering those glory of the nation, martyred intellectuals with dense respect and praying forgiveness of their souls, expressed acute condolences to the bereaved members of the martyrs’ families.
First Secretary (ECT) Md. Shahriar Alam, First Secretary (Passport) Md. Kazi Faisal, First Secretary (Press) Md. Arifur Rahman, First Secretary (Labor) Mrs. Shahnaz Parveen, Second Secretary (Protocol) Md. Sajjad Hussain was present on the occasion along with consulate officials. There were also various community members and media persons present.
At the end, with deep respect to all the martyred intellectuals, the end of the program was declared with prayers and praying for the forgiveness of their souls.
