The United Arab Emirates is embarking on a significant digital transformation, aiming to shift 50% of its government sectors, services, and operations to models powered by Agentic AI within the next two years. This initiative, part of the broader UAE Government 4.0 journey, seeks to enhance institutional performance, accelerate decision-making processes, and improve overall service delivery.
To facilitate this transition, the Higher Committee for Agentic AI recently hosted the “Agentic AI and Data Technology Track” workshop. The event convened government leaders, Chief AI Officers, and various entity representatives to align on the necessary data infrastructure, technical requirements, and governance frameworks required to support this large-scale adoption.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, who also chairs the Agentic AI and Data Technology Track, emphasized that the project represents the world’s first comprehensive, government-wide effort to integrate Agentic AI. He noted that the UAE is actively building a proactive government model that leverages emerging technologies to bolster efficiency and national readiness.
The project is structured around five core tracks: operations and institutional support, strategic government work, government services, technology and data, and capacity building and training. During the recent workshop, officials reviewed these pillars, focusing on the integration of government systems and the establishment of robust data governance standards to ensure the safe and responsible deployment of AI.
A key component of this infrastructure is the Federal Agentic AI Technology Platform, or FedAI. This platform is designed to provide federal entities with a unified technological foundation for developing and deploying AI solutions. Through the National AI Gateway, government bodies will gain secure access to a variety of AI platforms, allowing them to manage applications, utilize commercial models, and incorporate open-source models hosted within sovereign infrastructure.
To maintain high standards, the government is implementing a self-assessment mechanism based on specific technical and operational criteria. This system will help classify and evaluate AI tools to ensure they meet the rigorous requirements of Agentic AI. Officials believe this standardized approach will strengthen governance while streamlining the implementation process across all federal entities.
The workshop also highlighted the growing ecosystem supporting this transition, showcasing more than 10 technology companies and vendors currently assisting with Agentic AI applications. This collaborative effort is intended to solidify the UAE’s standing as a global leader in AI-powered governance.
The push toward an AI-native government is already manifesting in various regional projects. Recent developments include Dubai’s efforts to map the future of work in the Agentic AI era, Ajman’s unveiling of a UAE-first Agentic AI service, and the launch of the country’s first AI-powered judicial platform. Additionally, Abu Dhabi is actively training its workforce on AI-related safety protocols, such as handling hazardous materials.
By prioritizing these technological advancements, the UAE aims to create a more efficient, responsive, and future-ready public sector.
