A prominent singer has been taken into custody in Dubai following allegations that they sold nearly 40 counterfeit visas to individuals seeking legal residency in the United Arab Emirates. The arrest was confirmed by Major General Dr. Ali Bin Ajif Al Zaabi, who serves as the Assistant Director General of the Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Sector at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai.
According to the investigation, the suspect targeted job seekers by charging between Dh7,000 and Dh9,000 for each fraudulent document. Victims were misled with false promises of obtaining legal status, only to discover that the transactions provided no legitimate residency rights. The scheme specifically exploited those looking to secure employment or regularize their immigration status within the country.
Major General Al Zaabi emphasized that the GDRFA maintains a strict stance against criminal networks and individuals orchestrating such scams. He stated that the department remains vigilant in its efforts to identify and prosecute those involved in deceptive practices that compromise the integrity of the nation’s residency and visa systems. Authorities continue to monitor for similar fraudulent activities to protect individuals from exploitation. The report also notes that it later emerged that the visas and related transactions did not provide the buyers with any legitimate residency status.
