Israel received bad news from the United States during the war. The US Parliament has rejected a proposal for huge financial aid for the country.
The proposal was rejected in the lower house of Congress (House of Representatives) on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, the House Republicans proposed a $17.6 billion aid package to Israel. Then 250 members of the House of Representatives voted against it. On the other hand, 180 members voted for it.
After the vote, Speaker Mike Johnson said, “Now is not the right time to introduce this bill.” One of the senior leaders of the Democrat Party and MP Rosa DiLauro reacted to the incident. He also thinks that giving aid to Israel now will be negative for many US allies.
He said it is true that our important allies continue to struggle for their survival. But our other allies and enemies are watching our moves closely.
On the other hand, Republican MP Ken Calvert said that Israel is one of the closest US allies in the Middle East. We should be there for them in their time of need.
According to the rules of the United States, if the president wants to give money or military aid to a country, the proposal must be sent in writing to Congress. The legislators then review the matter and agree or object. If they object, the proposal is rejected in Congress.
