Can North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un cry? Tears in his eyes? Answering ‘yes’ to the questions may seem unbelievable to many. But that incredible event happened in reality. Dictator Kim shed tears in front of everyone.
North Korea’s population continues to decline. Birth rate is much lower than death rate. The North Korean ruler requested women to have more children to overcome this crisis. And while saying that, he cried.
The crying scene of Kim Jong Un has gone viral on social media. In the video, Kim can be seen with tears in her eyes while speaking at an event. And he is wiping it with a handkerchief.
But Kim wasn’t alone in crying at the event. A group of women present in front of him are also seen crying in the video. Although many people call their cry as ‘arranged drama’.
It is known that last Sunday (December 3) a huge rally was held in Pyongyang with North Korean mothers. Thousands of women participated in it. It was the first such summit in North Korea in 11 years.
Addressing the chief guest at the event, Kim Jong Un said, “Stopping the decline in birth rate and providing better care and education to children is our family issue, which must be resolved together with mothers.”
He said, “When I have a hard time with the work of the party and the state, I still think of mothers.”
The population of North Korea is about two and a half million. According to the United Nations Population Fund and the World Bank, since 2020 the female fertility rate in the country has dropped from 1.79 to 1.8 children per capita.
But even in the sixties, the fertility rate of North Korean women was over four. However, in the 1990s, it fell to 2.1 after birth control programs and mass starvation.
