Pakistan’s cricket has started to get all the winds of change in one day after the World Cup. After the change in the position of the captain, this time there has been a change in the position of the country’s cricket director. The country’s former cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has been given the responsibility of Pakistan Cricket Director.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) gave this information in a statement on Wednesday (November 15). As a result, Hafeez will come to the position of the former director of the team Mickey Arthur. But the decision to lay off Arthur has not been made yet. It is believed that this South African coach will be seen in some new role.
Before this, Hafeez was a member of the technical committee of the Pakistan team. However, after the failure of Babar Azam in the last Asia Cup, he stepped down from the role. This time after the failure in the World Cup, there has been a major reshuffle in the Pakistan team. This 43-year-old former cricketer got a new responsibility in his continuation.
Hafeez is known as ‘The Professor’ in Pakistan cricket. He played 55 Tests, 218 ODIs and 119 T20s for Pakistan, scoring a total of 12,780 runs and taking 253 wickets. 32 times the fourth highest man of the match for Pakistan. He was also a member of the 2017 Champions Trophy winning team.
Meanwhile, apart from Hafeez, Wahab Riaz has been appointed as the new chief selector in the country’s cricket. This sports minister of Punjab is going to replace former captain Inzamam ul Haque. Apart from this, the country’s former cricketers Younis Khan and Sohail Tanveer met with the country’s cricket board president Zaka Ashraf. It is assumed that they can also come in a new role.
Earlier, Babar Azam quit the captaincy of Pakistan from the three editions of Test, ODI and T20 due to the failure of the World Cup. Babar met PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf before announcing his resignation. He said that he will continue to play in all three editions despite leaving the leadership.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the name of the new captain soon after Babar Azam stepped down. Shaheen Shah Afridi has been made T20 captain. And Shan Masood got the responsibility of Test. Pakistan is yet to announce the captain of the ODI team despite deciding the T20I and Test captains.
