Pakistan carried out two airstrikes targeting several Taliban hideouts inside Afghanistan, killing eight people. All the dead were women and children.
The attack was carried out in the early hours of Monday (March 18) local time. Afghanistan’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed this information.
In a statement, Zajibullah described the attack as a violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty. In that statement, he said, at 3 a.m. local time, civilian houses were bombarded by Pakistani aircraft in Khost and Paktika provinces bordering Pakistan.
However, Islamabad has not yet commented on this attack.
It was not immediately clear what led to the attack. Pakistani government and security officials say such attacks, which they blame on the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), have increased in recent months. They also claimed that these attacks were planned in Afghan territory.
