Famine is imminent in northern Gaza. 70 percent of the population there is facing hunger. This warning was given in a UN report on Monday.
Melanie Ward, CEO of UN MedicalAid for the Palestinians, said warnings of impending famine in Gaza mean nothing if they do not act on it.
“For the past five months, we have consistently issued warnings about how serious the situation in Gaza is becoming,” Melanie said. But nothing was done. In fact, the situation there has worsened. Now the simple solution to this problem is that if Israel only gave food aid, we could immediately eliminate the hunger of the people there.
In addition, European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell blamed Israel for the approaching famine in Gaza. Borel also accused the country of using starvation as a weapon of war. He said these things on Monday. However, the Israeli Foreign Minister denied such accusations against the country.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army has again raided Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip overnight.
The Israeli army said on Monday that it launched the attack after learning that the hospital building was being used by senior Hamas militants.
An Israel Defense Forces spokesman said the IDF was conducting high-precision operations with tanks, drones and heavy weapons in the limited area of the hospital. In a voice message sent to journalists from inside the hospital, a person named Muhammad Al-Sayed said that the soldiers have entered the hospital building. The situation here is terrible. Dead bodies are lying here and there.
More than 31,000 Palestinians have been killed so far in more than five months of continuous Israeli aggression. Among the dead, the number of children is more than 13 thousand. Such information has been reported by the United Nations Children’s Security and Rights Organization UNICEF. In addition, other children in Gaza are suffering from severe malnutrition.
