Former US President Donald Trump has won the Republican Party’s election in three states. In the US states of Michigan, Missouri and Idaho, he defeated his nearest rival Nikki Haley by a wide margin and took another step towards the fight against the incumbent President Joe Biden in the US presidential election to be held in November.
Trump has won a total of eight states so far, putting him far ahead of the Republican Party. And Haley’s chances of getting the Republican nomination are fading fast. Tuesday (March 5) is crucial for Haley, as 15 states and one territory go to the polls to choose the Republican nominee.
Trump received the most votes in the state of Michigan. Trump beat Haley in all 13 districts here. With 98 percent support, Trump received a total of 1,575 votes, while Haley received only 36.
1,600 Republican candidates participated in this election held in Grand Rapids, West Michigan. Through this election, Donald Trump was selected as a candidate for the Republican National Nominating Convention to be held next July.
In this year’s election, Michigan state Republicans used a hybrid election system combining both primaries and caucuses. In the primaries held last Tuesday and Saturday, Trump also won by a landslide by securing 51 delegates.
