The United Arab Emirates has issued a strong condemnation following a missile strike on an ADNOC-affiliated tanker as it navigated the Strait of Hormuz. Authorities confirmed that no injuries occurred during the incident.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized the assault as a flagrant breach of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817. This resolution explicitly protects the freedom of navigation and prohibits any interference with commercial shipping or international maritime corridors.
The ministry further asserted that utilizing the Strait of Hormuz for economic coercion or political pressure constitutes an act of piracy by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Officials warned that such actions pose a direct risk to regional stability, the safety of local populations, and the security of global energy supplies.
Calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the UAE urged Iran to halt all acts of aggression and unconditionally reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The government emphasized that these measures are essential to safeguarding regional security and maintaining the stability of international trade and the global economy.
This incident adds to a broader pattern of maritime insecurity in the region. ADNOC has confirmed that 15 vessels have been struck since the onset of the current conflict, resulting in one fatality.
