22 people were injured in a gunman’s shooting at a parade in the US state of Kansas. One person was killed and a total of 22 people including 11 children were injured.
The gun attack was carried out in the procession organized on the occasion of the Super Bowl victory of a team named Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday local time.
The victim has been identified as Lisa Lopez. He was working as a disc jockey at the event. 22 people were injured when the gunmen fired bullets during the event, after which the person named Lisa Lopez died on the way to the hospital.
Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City said they are treating 12 people. 11 of them are children.
Witnesses said the attack took place shortly after the Chiefs players gave their speeches.
Kansas City police said three gunmen have been arrested. An investigation is underway to find out the cause of the attack.
Kansas City Fire Department Chief Ross Grandison said at a news conference that many of the injured were in critical condition.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly said in a post on social media, “I have been evacuated. I request everyone to follow police instructions. Please stay safe.’
