An earthquake struck the Central American country of Guatemala. A magnitude 6.1 earthquake was felt off the South Pacific coast of the country on Friday. Some people fled their homes. Besides, some buildings were reported to be damaged.

The earthquake hit just after midnight on Friday when everyone was sleeping. However, no casualty has been reported in this incident so far.
Officials in El Salvador said the earthquake was “very strong”. They are improving their monitoring system.
The epicenter was near the Guatemalan city of Taxisco, about 100 kilometers south of the capital Guatemala City. Its depth was 108 km. Where alarms went off and many residents fled their homes to safety in panic.
Guatemala’s emergency services agency Conrad said part of the facade of a church in the town of San Pablo Jocopilas, northwest of the epicenter, had collapsed.
