Pakistan’s economy has been in shambles for a long time. This time, the Pakistan Army is getting down to farming to save the country’s economy. They have already started corporate farming.
According to reports, Pakistan Army is starting corporate farming in Punjab and Sindh provinces. For this, Pakistan Army has recently entered into a joint venture agreement with a company called ‘Mrs. Green Private Limited’.
It is known that this project has been planned under the supervision of the ‘Special Investment Facilitation Council’ which has been created to revive the economy of Pakistan. The district administrators of the respective areas have identified around 52 thousand 713 acres of barren land for the project. The land will be leased to the army for 20 years. All the control will be in the hands of the army, but the ownership of the land will remain with the government
It is said that Green Corporate Initiative Limited will spend 20 percent of the profits on research and development in the local area. 40 percent will go directly to the government house. The remaining 40 percent of the profit will be spent on development projects like local infrastructure, irrigation, solar water supply projects, schools, hospitals.
However, the Pak Army cannot use this land for any other purpose than agriculture. Apart from cultivation, no business or other activity is allowed on that land. The land will be thoroughly surveyed before acquisition. It will be seen whether the land is a protected land or cultural heritage site, populated area, mangrove forest, forest land, grazing land, cemetery, historic Panipat or not.
All measures will be taken to ensure that the local people are not affected in any way. A management board has been constituted for this project. The members of this board will take all the decisions to implement the plan.
Pakistan has been suffering from continuous economic recession for several years. Pakistani currency has hit rock bottom. The price of goods is skyrocketing. The foreign exchange reserves are strained. And with it there is a political crisis. Pakistan is in a bad state in these twin crises. Time will tell how successful this new initiative will be in dealing with that.
