At least 13 people have died after a fire broke out at a school dormitory in central China’s Henan province. The local fire service arrived at the scene of the fire at Yingkai School in Yanshanpu Village, Henan.
A fire broke out at the school on Friday (January 19) night. After receiving the information, the members of the fire service quickly reached the spot. After about 40 minutes of efforts, the fire was brought under control around 11:38 pm. One person injured in the incident is receiving treatment at the hospital and his condition is stable.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. A staff member of the dormitory has also been arrested for negligence in this incident. No specific information is yet known about this school in Yansanpu Village, adjacent to Nanyang, Henan’s main city. Besides, Xinhua could not be sure about the number of students among the dead.
A group of Chinese netizens are very angry about the fire incident in the school. A netizen wrote on the country’s social media Weibo, “It’s very scary. 13 members of 13 families are gone in an instant. If those involved in this incident are not punished properly, the souls of the dead will not rest in peace.
