Norway’s Research and Higher Education Minister Sandra Borch has resigned after admitting to plagiarizing another’s research in her master’s thesis.
He resigned on Friday local time. According to reports citing the press conference, Sandra admitted to making a big mistake. He regretted using the writings of different people in the research without mentioning the sources.
Earlier, a student first brought the matter to the attention of everyone on the social media platform Twitter (now X). He writes, Sandra took word for word from a student’s research, she did not even correct the mistakes there.
After that, various Norwegian media published reports about Sandra Borch’s plagiarism. It is said that although the two students’ research was similar to Sandra’s 2014 master’s thesis, she did not use their names as a reference.
Last week, Sandra Borch decided to take the case filed by the complaining student to the Supreme Court. However, he did not say why he withdrew from his decision.
Incidentally, Center Party member Sandra, who served as Norway’s Minister of Agriculture from 2021 to 2023, took over as Minister of Higher Education last year. He researched safety in the oil industry for his master’s degree.
It should be noted that several members of the Norwegian government have recently resigned due to various controversies.
