The United Arab Emirates has issued a formal condemnation following a hostile attack by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps on two vessels operated by ADNOC. Officials confirmed that the vessels were transiting the Strait of Hormuz at the time of the incident, though fortunately, no injuries were reported among the crews.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) characterized the assault as a flagrant violation of UN Security Council resolution 2817. The resolution specifically upholds the principle of freedom of navigation and explicitly prohibits the targeting of commercial shipping or the disruption of vital international maritime corridors.
The UAE government further asserted that utilizing the Strait of Hormuz as a mechanism for economic coercion or blackmail constitutes an act of piracy. According to the Ministry, such actions by the Revolutionary Guard pose a direct threat to regional stability, the safety of local populations, and the security of global energy supplies.
This latest incident adds to a growing pattern of maritime aggression in the region. ADNOC has confirmed that a total of 15 vessels have been struck since the onset of the current conflict, an escalation that has already resulted in one fatality. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as tensions remain high along these critical shipping lanes.
