Almost everyone tries to keep themselves away from cold in winter. The fear of dry skin and the tendency to catch minor colds and flu are high. From small to big in the house, everyone wears warm clothes for warmth and also uses hot water for bathing. The children of the house are not excluded from this.
Meanwhile, accidents happen suddenly while bathing children in hot water in winter. Sometimes hot water falls on the body due to carelessness. Sometimes it is seen that small children crawl into hot water or hot tea, milk, pulses, curry, rice starch or similar things and get burnt.
Doctors believe that the number of hot water burns is relatively high this time. There is an increasing number of burnt children in emergency departments of various hospitals. Doctors said that in June this year, 262 people were treated for burns caused by hot water, hot tea, milk, pulses, curry and rice starch in the emergency department of the hospital.
This number in June has doubled after three months. In other words, the number of people treated for burns was 526 in October and 456 in November.
Tanveer Ahmed, Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, said that what should be done if children or adults are burned by hot water, parents need to be aware to prevent children from getting burned. In this case, it should be remembered that spherical pots and pans are overturned with a slight push. It is better to use flat pots for this.
He said, hot pots and pans should never be kept on the floor after cooking. These should always be kept in a high place or out of reach of children. And while taking a bath, instead of taking the hot water bottle to the bathroom, you should bring the bucket to the kitchen to take hot water. As a result, the risk is very low. Besides, after cooking in the clay oven in the village, burning wood can be extinguished, water should be covered if necessary, fire should be kept at a distance in winter and children should be kept away from rice and bran fires.
Meanwhile, Dr. in this regard. Mehran Hossain said in an interview as a suggestion, there are more cases of children getting burned due to carelessness in hot water. At this time there are many side treatments like, some give eggs, some give ashes, and some give coconut oil. This should not be done at all. There is no benefit in it. Rather, the child is more harmed. Not only children, but adults are also harmed.
This doctor said, first, the burnt area should be washed with cold water for 15 to 20 minutes. But no need to give ice. Initially, there are various types of silver salazine ointments available in the market that can be used. Then the patient should be taken to a nearby hospital. Because there are several steps in the treatment of burn patients. It is necessary to take the patient to the hospital to complete these.
