Three more cricketers have been inducted into the International Cricket Council (ICC) Hall of Fame. Diana Edulji was added as India’s first female cricketer by the organization. Apart from this, the other two are former Indian legendary right-handed opener Virender Sehwag and Sri Lankan superstar Arvind de Silva.
The names of these three cricketers were announced on their official website on Monday (November 13) during the World Cup.
India and New Zealand will meet in the first semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15. Diana, De Silva and Sehwag will be officially honored by the ICC on that day. Members of the ICC Hall of Fame, media representatives, FICA senior officials and the ICC have been inducted after the voting process.
Diana Edulji is said to be the first superstar in the history of the Indian women’s cricket team. Diana played cricket from 1976 to 1993. During this period, this woman all-rounder played 20 Tests and 34 ODI matches. Diana, who has participated in three World Cups, led India in two editions. This female legend of India took 63 and 46 wickets in Tests and ODIs respectively.
Arvind de Silva played international cricket for a total of 19 years from 1984 to 2003. The Lankan batsman scored 6,361 runs at an average of 42.97 in 93 Tests. De Silva collected 9 thousand 284 runs in 308 matches in ODIs. He took 29 and 106 wickets in Tests and ODIs respectively. Apart from this, Arvind de Silva played an extraordinary innings of 107 runs and three wickets against Australia in the 1996 World Cup final.
Markut opener Virender Sehwag played for India from 1999 to 2015. This right-handed opener has scored more than 17 thousand runs in a career of 16 years. Won 2011 ODI and 2007 T20 World Cup for India. Sehwag was the only cricketer of Team India to score two triple centuries.
