Real Madrid drew goalless with Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday night. But the most successful club of the season could have scored more than one goal. Ancelotti regretted the lack of victory in the press conference after the match. However, the Italian coach expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the students, ‘We are disappointed with the result of the match. But we played well. In the same context, he added, ‘I am disappointed with the result of the match but not disappointed with the performance. Sometimes you win matches without being worthy and sometimes you don’t win matches despite being worthy. It was a match we deserved to win. We won some other matches where we didn’t deserve to win. We are in the fight for the La Liga title and are doing very well in the Champions League. There is no need for drama, but we need to be confident that we are doing well. Like today (Sunday) against Rayo Vallecano we didn’t do anything wrong.’
Real faced Barcelona in their previous match in the league. In the first Clasico of the season, they won 2-1 in a thrilling duel at the field of arch-rivals.
Ancelotti openly admitted that the joy and greatness of the victory against Barca is greater than the victory against Rayo, ‘If there was a draw in the Clasico and if I had won today, then nothing would have changed. But if I had to win either of these two matches, I would have wanted to win against Barcelona, not against Rayo.’
Real is in second place in La Liga with 29 points from 9 wins and 2 draws in 12 matches. Girona is at the top with 2 points more than them in equal matches. Champion Barcelona is third with 27 points. Rayo is in ninth place with 18 points.
