More than 14,000 people have been affected by Mpox. More than 450 of them died
Only four years have passed since the global fight against the corona virus. The name of the global panic was this corona. But this time, another terrible virus called Mpox is slowly spreading around the world. After Africa, Europe, Asia, Pakistan has also identified patients of this virus. The World Health Organization (WHO) has already issued a warning about this contagious virus due to its rapid spread. The news agency Reuters has published the information of infection in different countries about Mpox. Meanwhile, citing the Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), from the beginning of 2024 to the end of July, more than 14,000 people have been infected with Mepox. More than 450 of them died.
What is Mpox?
Like the corona virus, empox is a highly contagious virus. Mepox is transmitted through contact with an infected person. The virus is transmitted to another person through breathing while talking to an infected person. Apart from this, the virus can enter the body through broken skin, nose, mouth. A new person is easily infected with empox through hand to hand contact with bedding, clothing and towels of an infected person. The virus can also spread through sexual intercourse. According to BBC Bengal, two types of MPOX have been identified so far. These two types are named by experts as clade-1 and clade-2. But now the type of virus that is being infected recently is referred to as Clade-1B, but experts could not reveal detailed information about it.
Symptoms of empox
One of the symptoms of corona virus infection was fever. In case of empox also the affected person will suffer from fever. In addition to this, rashes on different parts of the body including the palms of the hands and feet will appear. These rashes may itch, or be very painful.
Those at higher risk
Since empox is a contagious virus, the person who is close to the affected person is most likely to get infected with this virus. In this case, family members and health workers employed in hospitals are also at risk. However, if the immune system of the body is sufficient, many people can cope with the shock of the virus. In this case, the obstacle is for the children of the family. Children in that family are most at risk if a family member is infected with empox. Kenan, children have a much lower immune system than other family members. Therefore, empox can spread rapidly among children.
Countries affected by empox
The Democratic Republic of Congo will be the first to come up for discussion regarding the outbreak of Empox. The country is infected with this virus since 2023. So far, about 27,000 people have been infected in the country. More than 1,100 of them died. Most of the dead are children. However, apart from Congo, in late July and early August of this year, one person in Sweden, 61 people in Burundi, 4 people in Rwanda, 2 people in Uganda, 1 person in Kenya and 3 people in Pakistan have been identified, according to Reuters.
Notes on Empox
Since monkeypox has been around the world for a long time, it is also noted. But affected countries are not able to accept vaccines to fight the corona virus in the same way that people have been able to accept Mpox vaccinations. Reportedly, not everyone has enough funds to reach this vaccine. However, WHO has directed drug manufacturers to deal with Mpox in urgent cases.
It should be noted that WHO declared a state of emergency in July 2022 due to the outbreak of Mpox virus. The state of emergency was later lifted in May 2023 with vaccination and protection measures in place.
