Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has submitted nomination papers to contest for the post of Chancellor of Oxford University in the UK.
Imran’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said this. Imran Khan is lodged in a jail in Rawalpindi. A representative submitted the nomination paper on his behalf. The party has said that he will fight for the post of chancellor from prison.
Imran Khan’s adviser PTI leader Zulfikar Bukhari said that his application form has been submitted for the Oxford University Chancellor Election 2024 on the instructions of Imran Khan. We look forward to everyone’s support for a historic campaign.
According to a report by Voice of America, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Boris Johnson are among the candidates to become the chancellor of the university. Syed Zulfi Bukhari spoke about the issue while talking to the British newspaper The Telegraph last July.
He said, people (many related to chancellor election) are interested in Imran Khan. So he will fight for the post of chancellor of Oxford University. Recently, 80-year-old Chris Patten, the former chairman of Britain’s opposition Conservative Party and Tory Party and the former governor of Hong Kong, left the position of Chancellor of Oxford University.
Chris Patten served as Chancellor of the University for nearly 21 years.
According to tradition, graduates of this institution are physically present during the election of the Chancellor of the University of Oxford. However, this time the tradition will be broken and online voting will be held. Imran Khan holds an advanced degree in economics from Oxford.
