Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan can be released this month. This is what the leaders of his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are hoping for. Latif Khosa, senior leader of the party expressed strong optimism in this regard.
At an event, Latif Khosa asserted, “I am confirming that the founder of PTI (Imran Khan) will be released this April.”
In response to a question whether there was any agreement between the government and the army regarding the release of Imran Khan, this senior PTI leader said that it is wrong to think that Imran Khan’s release is part of an agreement.
Among the cases against the PTI founder, Khosa said about the Saifar case and Iddat case, they have no basis in fact. He said, in the Cipher case, the court has already observed the so-called “where is the Cipher”. And the Iddat case is a shameful thing.
Earlier this month, the Islamabad High Court stayed the 14-year prison sentence in the Toshakhana case against Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. At the same time, he fixed the date of hearing of this case after Eid.
However, Imran Khan is still imprisoned in the Toshakhana case despite the suspension of his prison sentence. Because, he is still incarcerated due to the conviction and arrest warrant against him in connection with the Cipher case, another Toshakhana case and a terrorist case.
Imran Khan was ousted in April 2022 in a no-confidence vote. At that time, Imran Khan and PTI leaders complained that the army had ousted them due to US intervention.
Later in August 2023, Imran Khan was arrested in the Toshakhana case. Later he was also accused in the Cypher and Iddat cases. Imran Khan has been punished in these cases. Imran Khan’s appeal in these cases is pending.
