Donald Trump has overcome the first obstacle on the way to become the President of the United States for the second time. On Monday (January 15) in the state of Iowa in the Midwestern United States, the “Republican Caucus” was voted on in the primary election between the three Republican presidential candidates. The initial count shows that Trump has won the majority of the votes compared to the other two party candidates.
Donald Trump defeated former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the election. Through this, he has reached the threshold of winning the nomination of the Republican Party for the third time in a row.
Trump received 25,186 votes in the caucuses. Second-place finisher Ron DeSantis received 9,888 votes. And Nikki Hale got 9,269 votes. Vivek Ramaswamy, who was placed fourth, got 3,746 votes. Asa Hutchinson received 82 votes.
Meanwhile, Indian-origin Vivek Ramaswamy pulled himself out of the presidential race after Trump’s lead over Republican candidates in Iowa. His name came up as the Republican candidate in February 2023. Ramaswamy’s decision is believed to favor Trump.
Trump’s victory is a sign of his continued influence in the Republican Party. Even though he has been accused in four criminal cases, he has no problem winning.
