In order to put pressure on the Indian film industry, the beautiful island nation of Maldives has banned any shooting of Hindi movies.
Mumbai’s ‘All India Cine Works Association’ (AICWA) has said that Indian filmmakers should not go to the Maldives for shooting a movie or for a vacation.
AICWA originally made this request to Indian manufacturers amid ongoing controversy over anti-India comments by some Maldivian ministers. Even on vacation, the Maldives cannot be visited. Rather there are many islands in India, where shooting and sightseeing are reported.
According to a report, the Maldives government has asked India to withdraw military personnel from their island by March 15.
AICWA president Suresh Shyamlal said in a statement that Indians should not post anything related to Maldives on social media platforms. It has also been asked to promote the islands in India.
He said, those who will go against our country, we will go against them. We can tolerate anything and everything. But anything that goes against our country will not be tolerated.
Earlier this month, some ministers, including the deputy minister of Maldives, made comments about India. Which started a huge debate. Where India is portrayed as a mockery on social media. Which stirs the Indians. After that, everyone including Indian stars called for a boycott of Maldives.
Earlier, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Laxmadi. After his visit, there were tweets about this on social media. Indians claim that it uses insulting language towards Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, on Sunday (January 14), Maldives President Mohamed Muizu asked India to withdraw all Indian military personnel deployed in the Indian Ocean islands by March 15. Senior officials of the two countries held a meeting in Maldives regarding the issue. There, too, the issue of troop withdrawal came up.
Incidentally, there are around 70 Indian troops, including 228 Dornier maritime patrol aircraft and two HAL Dhruva helicopters, currently stationed in the Maldives.
