The Bengali New Year 1432 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and excitement at the Bangladesh Consulate premises in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The spontaneous participation of the general expatriates was a notable feature of this year’s New Year celebration.
Expatriate Bangladeshis from various parts of Dubai flocked to this joyous New Year’s event. The consulate premises became vibrant with the presence of people from diverse backgrounds and professions. Consul General Muhammad Rashiduzzaman presided over the ceremony, with Ambassador Tareq Ahmad as the Chief Guest. The event was conducted by First Secretary (Press) Muhammad Arifur Rahman.
Officials and employees of the consulate, dressed in traditional attire, warmly welcomed the arriving guests. Men, women, and children adorned themselves in colorful clothes and various elements of Bengali culture. Local Bangladeshi artists presented captivating songs, dances, poetry recitations, Baul songs, folk dances, and Puthi recitation, which particularly attracted the audience.
In his speech at the event, Consul General Muhammad Rashiduzzaman conveyed his New Year’s greetings and highlighted the importance of preserving national culture and heritage abroad. He stated, “Such events increase unity and brotherhood among Bangladeshis living abroad and introduce the new generation to our culture.”
A large number of expatriates who attended the New Year celebrations enjoyed participating in this colorful festival of national culture. This event created a miniature reflection of Bangladesh abroad. This initiative of the consulate instilled a renewed sense of joy and enthusiasm among the expatriates.
