Iran is already one of the most sanctioned countries in the world. The US Treasury and State Department have imposed sanctions on ten individuals and nine entities in Iran and Russia, the US Treasury said.
The US has accused Iran of supplying ballistic missiles to Russia. The country announced new sanctions on Tehran for supplying Russia with short-range ballistic missiles for use in the war in Ukraine. He made this complaint in a discussion with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy during his visit to London on Tuesday (September 10).
Anthony Blinken said, “Russia has received a shipment of ballistic missiles and will likely use them against Ukraine within weeks.
“Iran’s supply of missiles to Russia would enable the country to launch a wider range of attacks,” he said.
However, Iran has denied the allegations of supplying weapons to Russia.
The loss of human life, destruction of infrastructure as a result of the conflict is inhumane. Iran is not involved in such activities but the country calls on other countries to stop supplying arms to the parties involved in the conflict.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said on Monday (September 9) that Iran strongly rejects allegations of arms exports to Russia. He also accused the United States of being “one of the biggest exporters of arms in the Ukraine-Russia war against Iran.” He also pointed out that Tehran is not part of the war in Ukraine.
