Indian classical musician Pankaj Udas passed away. He was 72 years old. The singer’s daughter Nayab Udas confirmed her father’s death in a post on Instagram. This singer was suffering from various diseases for a long time.
Pankaj Udas was born in Gujarat, India. He is widely known as a ghazal artist.
Pankaj Udas gained tremendous popularity by playback in Hindi movies like ‘Naam’, ‘Saajan’, ‘Mohra’. He won the hearts of the audience by singing ghazals like ‘Chandni Raat Mein’, ‘Na Kajre Ki Dhar’, ‘Aur Ahista Kiji Bati’, ‘Ek Taraf Uska Ghar’, ‘Thodi Aittu Piya Karo’.
Pankaj Udas was born on May 17, 1951 in Jetpur, Gujarat and was the youngest of three brothers. His musical background runs in his family. Seeing his passion for music, father Keshubhai enrolled his three children in the Rajkot Music Academy.
Initially trained in tabla, Pankaj later studied classical music from Ghulam Qadir Khan. Later, Pankaj went to Mumbai to train under Nabarang Nagpurkar, a popular artist of the Gwalior genre.
He made his film music debut in 1972 with the film ‘Kamana’. After that he gave his voice in the songs of the film ‘Saath Saath’, ‘Utsava’, ‘Prem Pratigya’.
In 1986, his song ‘Chithi Aayi Hai’ in the film ‘Naam’ brought him immense popularity. In 1991, ‘Jee To Jee’ from the film ‘Saajan’ also gave him the title of ‘hit song’.
