The United States has blamed Iran for the death of three American soldiers in a drone attack on American forces near the Syrian border in Jordan on Sunday January 28.
In this situation, a section of Democrats and Republicans are increasing the pressure on President Joe Biden to attack Iran. But keeping in mind America’s failure to wage war in different countries in the last few decades, the Pentagon is reluctant to go down that path now. According to the Pentagon, they do not want war with Iran and they believe that Tehran does not want war either.
“We don’t want war, but we will take action,” a Pentagon spokesman said on Tuesday (January 30). I will respond to the attack on the army.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday (January 30), US President Joe Biden said he had decided that the US would respond to an attack in Jordan that killed three US soldiers. However, he did not elaborate on what this response would be or when and how it would happen.
President Biden, however, said after such comments at the White House, “I don’t think we need a full-scale war in the Middle East.”
Asked by reporters on Tuesday (Jan 30) morning local time whether he had decided how to respond to the attack, Biden simply said, ‘Yes.’ Asked whether Iran should be blamed for the attack, the president said, “I hold them (Iran) responsible in the sense that they (Iran) are supplying weapons to the attackers.” However, Iran has denied its involvement in the attack.
Two days ago, an attack near the border of Syria killed 3 US soldiers. A militia group supported by Iran has already claimed responsibility for this attack. This is the first time that a US soldier has been killed by enemy fire in the Middle East since the start of Israel’s operation in Gaza on October 7.
It is known that the incident happened due to their own mistake. The Iranian militant group ‘Islamic Resistance’ sent a drone to the US military base. At the same time, an American military drone was scheduled to return to the base. US Army mistakes enemy drones as their own. As a result, it attacked the base without hindrance.
