Heavy fighting between Hamas and Israeli forces is going on inside Gaza City, the most populated area of the besieged Palestinian Gaza Strip. Al-Quds Hospital is located very close to the area where the conflict is taking place.
Thousands of people took refuge in Al-Quds Hospital premises after the bombing of Gaza began on October 7. However, the occupying Israeli forces continued to attack the hospital. It is not possible to say exactly how many people are currently in the hospital premises.
Israeli forces claim that Hamas has a strong base next to Al-Quds Hospital. They also claim that Hamas is using the hospital to attack Israel.
On October 28, the Israeli army entered Gaza with tanks and other armored vehicles and started a ground attack. After 12 days of attacks, Israeli forces reached Gaza City. They currently surround Gaza City. It is feared that Israeli forces will launch a ground attack on Hamas strongholds in Gaza City at any time.
Many residents of Gaza City are moving south on foot or in donkey carts, fearing the attack. Israel has stopped airstrikes on roads like today. Thousands of people are moving from Gaza City to other places on that occasion.
Earlier on Wednesday (November 8), there were reports of heavy clashes between Hamas fighters and Israeli forces in the streets of Gaza City. Hamas fighters launched a sneak attack on Israeli soldiers using tunnels. Even, Hamas has put up strong resistance against Israeli tanks.
Hamas’ armed wing released a video on Wednesday showing intense fighting in the streets surrounding bombed buildings in Gaza City.
Israel’s military said on Wednesday that its forces were advancing toward the heart of Gaza City, the main stronghold of Hamas. Hamas, on the other hand, claims that its fighters are inflicting heavy casualties on Israeli forces.
