Tremors were also felt in India’s capital, New Delhi, which is about 500 kilometers from the epicenter, AFP reported.
Nepal’s Karnali province police spokesman Gopal Chandra Bhattarai told AFP that a large number of members of the country’s law enforcement agencies had been deployed to carry out the rescue operation.

Indian social media users reported that the earthquake was felt in the country’s northern cities of Lucknow and Patna on Friday.
A few hours later, the USGS reported an aftershock of a magnitude four in the same area.
In 2015, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Nepal killed nearly 9,000 people and injured more than 22,000 people. About 8,000 schools were damaged or destroyed, leaving nearly 1 million children without classrooms. The earthquake destroyed hundreds of monuments and palaces.
In November last year, six people were killed in a magnitude 5.6 earthquake in Doti district near Jajarkot.
