Dubai Police have launched a series of specialized training and awareness workshops aimed at improving traffic safety and operational readiness for more than 140 security guards stationed at 35 schools across the emirate. These sessions are designed to bolster the guards’ ability to manage traffic flow effectively while ensuring the safety of students during peak arrival and departure times.
Brigadier Juma Salem Bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, stated that the initiative underscores the force’s commitment to fostering institutional partnerships and preparing security personnel to address common traffic challenges within their work environments. He noted that the training provides guards with the necessary skills to manage minor incidents, which directly contributes to more efficient traffic movement and higher safety standards in school zones.
The curriculum covered a range of essential topics, including the identification of potential accident risks within school environments and the proper procedures for reporting traffic incidents via the “We are All Police” smart application. Participants also received instruction on interpreting traffic signs and managing vehicle flow during busy school hours. To ensure practical application, the guards engaged in simulated scenarios that mirrored real-life traffic accidents.
Beyond traffic regulation, the program provided guidance on the safe boarding and disembarking of students from buses to mitigate potential risks. The training also outlined professional protocols for initial emergency responses, ensuring that security staff can act effectively during traffic or security incidents until official authorities arrive on the scene.
