The ground operation in the northern part of the Palestinian Gaza Strip has ended. The ongoing operation in southern Gaza will soon end. Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Galant said control of Gaza would be returned to the Palestinians once the overall operation was over.
He said these things in a statement and press conference on Monday .
In a statement, the Israeli defense minister said, “We presented to the wartime government that the Gaza operation will end within three months.” But we could not achieve our goal. The ground operation in the northern part of the Gaza Strip has ended. The ongoing operation in southern Gaza or Khan Yunis will soon end. Once the campaign is over we will take the next step.
Gallant said Hamas military installations, weapons factories and secret hideouts in northern Gaza had been destroyed. Top Hamas leaders, including Yahya Sinwar, have gone into hiding in southern Gaza. They will be tracked down by heavy operations in southern Gaza for a few more days.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that operations in the Gaza Strip will continue until the complete elimination of Hamas. Gallant then said the IDF would be given whatever powers it needed. Although it may take a long time, the final victory of Israel will come in the end.
Meanwhile, last Sunday was the 100th day of the Israeli attack on Gaza. So far 23 thousand 968 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s attacks. Injured 60 thousand 582 people.
According to the international organization Oxfam, an average of 250 people are killed in Gaza every day. Most of them are children and women.
