Pakistan has decided not to celebrate English New Year 2024 in solidarity with the besieged Gazans of Palestine. The country’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haque Kakar announced the ban on Thursday .
At this time, he called on the citizens of his country to show compassion, restraint and humility towards the Palestinians.
In his address to the nation, Kakar said that the government of Pakistan is banning all events of the upcoming New Year to show solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters. We Pakistanis are deeply saddened by the genocide going on in Gaza.
He said that Pakistan has already highlighted the plight of Palestinians in all global forums. Pakistan will continue to talk in the future to stop Israeli bloodshed.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haque Kakar also said that Pakistan has already sent two rounds of aid to Palestine and said that the government of Pakistan is preparing to send another round of aid to Palestine.
He also said that Pakistan is continuing discussions with Jordan and Egypt to provide aid to the Palestinians and evacuate the injured in Gaza.
It should be noted that on October 7, Hamas fighters ambushed Israel’s northern Erez border. Then the Israeli air force started operations in Gaza from that day. Later, the ground forces also joined the operation from October 28.
According to the Ministry of Health of Gaza, the number of Palestinians killed in the two-and-a-half-month war has exceeded 21,000. Most of them are women, children and elderly people. Apart from this, 54 thousand 968 people were injured and 6 thousand 700 people are still missing.
On the other hand, Israel claimed that 1,200 Israelis were killed in the attack by Hamas on October 7. In addition, Hamas forces took 242 hostages.
