Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a new bridge near the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), significantly reducing local travel times from 10 minutes to just two. The 500-metre, two-lane structure is a central component of the Al Mustaqbal Street Development Project, designed to optimize traffic flow for motorists exiting the DWTC and the One Central development.
The bridge provides a direct route toward Al Mustaqbal Street and Za’abeel Palace Street, bypassing previous bottlenecks in this high-traffic commercial district. The RTA stated that the project aims to ease congestion and facilitate smoother, more efficient journeys for all commuters in the area.
Infrastructure and Traffic Impact
- Travel time reduction: 8 minutes saved per trip
- Waiting time improvement: 85% reduction
- Congestion relief: Recent RTA network changes cut traffic by 30%
- Sheikh Zayed Road: New lane added to mitigate peak-hour delays
- Al Quoz: Key road upgrades completed to ease local traffic
- Efficiency gains: Other RTA projects have reduced travel times from 15 minutes to four
Strategic Outlook
As Dubai continues to expand its transport network, the RTA is evaluating whether these targeted road projects will effectively resolve long-term traffic challenges across the city.
