The Israeli military carried out an airstrike on a school in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. At least 16 people were killed. Dozens more were injured in the attack.
The health ministry of Hamas-controlled Palestine said the school building in the Nuseirat shelter in central Gaza was a shelter for thousands of displaced people.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed to have hit several structures in the Al-Zawni school area, where terrorist activities were being carried out.
Meanwhile, 10 people were reported killed in a separate air attack on another house in the camp. A video of the Nuseirat school attack showed elderly people and children screaming amid the rubble and dust. They were running to stand beside the wounded.
Hamas says five local journalists were among those killed in Saturday’s attack; Their families were also targeted.
According to Reporters Without Borders, a France-based organization that works on journalism and media freedom, hundreds of journalists have been killed in Gaza since the war that broke out after Hamas attacked inside Israel on October 7.
In this regard, Hamas says, five new deaths have brought the number of journalists killed in the war to 158.
The Jewish state has been claiming that about 1,200 people died and 251 people were taken hostage in the attack by Hamas on the territory of Israel on October 7. On the other hand, the Israeli operation in Gaza has killed more than 38,000 people, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, which is controlled by Hamas.
