Western ally the United States has stood by Tel Aviv as criticism of Israel erupts from around the world over centuries of brutality in Gaza. Meanwhile, anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian protests at universities across the United States have come under heavy criticism due to widespread police arrests and repression.
Despite the Biden administration’s unreserved support for Israel on the Gaza issue, the general public is outraged against it. Palestinians have been protesting US aid to Tel Aviv since the beginning. Protests started from the capital Washington DC to New York, California and other places. The horrific atrocities in the besieged Gaza Strip have shaken the conscience of American youth.
Due to the actions of the police in suppressing the protests, intense criticism has started against the United States. Democracy, good governance and justice in different countries are the opposite in the United States.
The critics say that while the security forces have expressed concern about the actions of the security forces in the movements of different countries, now there is widespread repression of the peaceful movements in their own countries. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, criticizing the police torture of protesters in the United States, said that what Western democratic countries are doing to protect Israel’s interests is hypocritical.
Many Jewish and conscientious students and academics at various US universities are protesting the genocide in Gaza. They are being brutally tortured for protesting. Western democracies are now restricted to Israeli interests. If Israel’s interests are hurt, it becomes anti-democratic and anti-Semitic to the West.
