The Dubai Police’s “Positive Spirit” initiative has been awarded the 2023 Arab Union for Sports Culture award in Egypt.
The award, which recognises youth initiatives, was presented by Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, who is also the head of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers.
The ceremony took place at the international congress “Move Week” in Cairo, attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Dr Mogens Kirkeby, President of the International Sport and Culture Association, and other notable ambassadors and media figures from the Arab world.
Brigadier Ali Khalafan Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department for Community Happiness at Dubai Police, emphasised that the success of the “Positive Spirit” initiative underscores its significance and excellence in reaching various community sectors, organising events that enhance interaction between Dubai Police and the community, and promoting sports as a lifestyle and healthy routine.
Launched in 2017 per the directives of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, the initiative has successfully engaged broad community segments over the past seven years, hosting sports and social events in cooperation with strategic partners and enhancing public awareness of policing and security.
Fatima Bouhajeer, chairperson of the “Positive Spirit” council, explained that the initiative aims to improve quality of life and foster social cohesion while instilling values of tolerance and coexistence. She highlighted the initiative’s achievements over the past years and its plans for continued success.
Last year alone, “Positive Spirit” organised 30 community sports events, 26 educational programs, 15 lectures and courses, and seven cultural competitions, benefiting over 41,796 individuals and achieving a 96% community satisfaction rate.
