The European Union has approved a package of new sanctions against 193 entities and individuals in Russia, Belarus and North Korea, blaming the administration led by Vladimir Putin for the situation in Ukraine.
In a post on social media X, the EU’s central office in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, said, “EU ambassadors have approved the principles of the 13th package of sanctions as a punitive measure for the aggression of Russian forces in Ukraine.”
Officials and individuals of the institutions and individuals on which the ban has been issued cannot travel and do business or any other work in the European Union countries.
An EU source said all of the sanctioned individuals and organizations have some connection to Russia’s military industry.
The source also said that the operating Russian forces have been accused of smuggling more than 4,000 children from Ukraine to Russia. According to the EU, this clearly constitutes a war crime and is the main reason for the new sanctions package.
