FIFA has fined Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFFE) a large sum of money for breach of discipline and violation of security rules.
It is known that the governing body of international football has fined Buffafe a total of 30,250 Swiss francs for several allegations including violation of discipline and security rules in three World Cup qualifying matches in October and November. In Bangladesh currency which is about 39 lakh taka.
According to the FIFA Wave site, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has published a list of punishments after reviewing the matches in the South American and Asian regions in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Based on the match commissioner’s report, Buffafe has been fined for indiscipline in two matches against Maldives in October and one against Lebanon in November.
On October 12, Bangladesh faced Maldives in the first match of the first round of World Cup qualifiers in Male. In the 1-1 draw match, 6 players of Bangladesh broke team discipline, and FIFA fined Buffafe 5,000 Swiss francs (about 6,43,706 Taka in Bangladeshi currency).
The next two matches, however, are at home due to security reasons. Bangladesh won 2-1 in the return leg against Maldives at the Kings Arena on 17 October. The Disciplinary Committee has ruled that Article 17 of the FIFA Code of Conduct has been violated due to the breaking of security rules, burning of firecrackers in the gallery and the entry of spectators into the field. For the crime, Buffett has to pay a fine of 14 thousand Swiss Francs (about 18 lakh 2 thousand 376 Taka in Bangladeshi currency).
And the last charge was against Lebanon on November 21 in the second round of World Cup qualifiers. In the 1-1 draw at King’s Arena, Bafuffe was fined 11,250 Swiss francs (about 14,48,000 Tk in Bangladeshi currency) for breaking security rules, burning firecrackers in the gallery and entering the field.
