Iran has executed an agent of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad after being found guilty of espionage. The Israeli spy was executed in the southwestern province of Sistan-Baluchistan on Saturday.
Iran’s state news agency reported this information. However, he did not reveal his name or identity.
The man was executed in Jahedan prison in Sistan-Baluchistan province.
The executed man was in contact with foreign intelligence agencies, especially the Mossad, to gather secret information and pass it on to associates. Apart from the Mossad, he also provided secret documents to other foreign intelligence agencies.
It is also not clear when the accused was arrested. But his appeal to overturn the death sentence was not granted, IRNA reported.
The executions came a day after Baloch militants attacked a police station in the province and killed 11 security personnel.
According to Iranian state news, the funeral of the security personnel killed in the attack on the police station was held in the city of Rask on Saturday. Several others were injured in the attack on the city’s police station. Two members of the local militant group Jaish al-Adhi were also killed in a clash with law enforcement at the police station.
